Jamaican Blue Mountain "Mavis Bank"

Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee is one of the rarest and most expensive coffees in the world. It has been the choice of connoisseurs the world over for more than two centuries and has a deserved reputation for being the best coffee on the planet. It is also the choice of the current British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.

Toward the eastern end of the beautiful island of Jamaica runs the majestic range of hills known as the Blue Mountains. At 5,500 feet the land is thickly wooded and maintained as Forest Reserve. Below this line, the terrain, the rainfall pattern, the Blue Mountain mist, and the overall conditions are blessed to be perfectly suited for the cultivation of the world's most distinguished and delicious coffee.

Coffee was brought to Jamaica from Martinique in 1728 by the Jamaican governor at that time, Sir Nicholas Lawes. Cultivation of coffee was quite successful and the rest is history. Since 1950 the Jamaican Coffee Board has been charged with the task of raising and maintaining a high bar of quality for JBM coffee.

Our Jamaican Blue is grown on small farms, most of which are over 5,000 ft. of altitude in the prime coffee growing area of the Blue Mountains. This is very high for island coffee, in general, and Jamaica in particular. The beans are then processed by the Mavis Bank Co-Operative Mill, which processes about 40% of the Jamaican Blue produced.

Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee demands the highest price of any other coffee origin in the world. Arguably, the highest of the Blue Mountains of Jamaica have the most ideal growing conditions anywhere on earth. JBM coffee at Mavis Bank is meticulously grown and processed to provide the clean taste and flavor which has not been duplicated anywhere.

Mavis Bank JBM has a good body, very clean nutty taste, floral aromatics, delicious sweetness, and its trademark brightness (acidity). This is the best of classic island coffee - smooth, rich, and well-balanced.
